A True Adventure: Sledding

We had a real adventure this New Year's Eve. We took the children sledding for their very first time. And it was a HUGE success (thanks to Grandma Mangum who suggested the outing and provided the sleds). And we even have pictures to document the outing (again thanks to Grandma Mangum). Maybe there is hope for this blog.

Rachel was the first daring enough to give sledding a try.

That gave Brooke the courage.

Look at this sparkle of excitement in their eyes! That is how we know that this was a worthy adventure. It is not very often that you see such happiness!

And just to make note: James was not one step behind his sisters.

Not to worry, Ali didn't miss out on the adventure either!

Lest any of you think sledding is just for kids, here is Doug and his brothers recapturing their youth.

Overall a day of fun, excitement, and laughter. We fully recommend this adventure to all of you who live where there is snow. (According to Doug, you are never too old.)

  1. Your day of sledding sure looks fun! We'll have to stick to ice blocking here! It's been a "cool" 72 this past week! :)

  4. That's awesome you have joined the ranks!! You have really beautiful kids! Looking at Doug makes me cold. . .he needs a coat. Although, I am freezing when the temperature is 60 now. I hope you don't give up on the blogging world. :)

  5. Looks like a lot of fun. We should plan a fun playdate of sorts with some sledding at the park and then some hot cocoa.

  6. How fun! I loved sledding as a kid, but I have never taken my kids. The place I used to go isn't a good spot anymore. And the lack of sleds....It looks like a great day!!
